Encourage your children to collect, then show them how to categorize pieces in "scientific" ways. They could collect dog figurines and then sort by color or shape or features (tongues that show or eyes that close). Kids that collect political buttons learn a history lesson with every new piece they add to their collection. Advertising labels, pens and pencils can teach geography—have the child plot the businesses' locations on a map as his or her collection grows. Toy cars, tractors and trucks—even the trade cards that picture them—show how technology has changed. Any collection teaches methodology which translates to serious scholastic work. Besides, it's fun!

The website is over a year old now and emails and comments from collectors have suggested many of the changes you can see here. The over 600,000 prices are FREE, and we have added color pictures to some entries. Our FREE Weekly ezine, Kovels Komments, is full of antique-related news that is yours if you just register on the site. Subjects are as diverse as a dodo bird skeleton or a hole in a painting worth millions of dollars and how these events change the world a little for the average collector. And we still answer readers’ questions, give tips, and identify mystery marks through the ezine. Our newsletter archives, over 70 issues already, grow each month and everything is searchable.
